Recently AMC Theaters made the decision to postpone its reopening from July to August, since this Disney has now postponed the release of Mulan indefinitely, according to Variety.
A Disney spokesperson told Variety the following:
Over the last few months, it’s become clear that nothing can be set in stone when it comes to how we release films during this global health crisis, and today that means pausing our release plans for ‘Mulan’ as we assess how we can most effectively bring this film to audiences around the world.
COVID-19 numbers have been spiking in many cities and states in America. Mulan and other blockbusters also rely on the China market for profit, but Chinese movie theaters remain closed as well as those in the United States and Europe.
Mulan was originally scheduled for release on March 27. Disney then delayed it to July 24 and then August 21. Disney did not announce a new release date this time around. It would have been the first big summer blockbuster this year.
