Walt Disney World has just announced the delayed reopening of Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort through Summer 2021.
The resort, slated for an October 4 reopening after being initially postponed from August 12, is currently open with limited operations for guests staying at Disney’s Polynesian Villas & Bungalows as part of the DVC reopening.
The following statement was just released to travel agents regarding the delay:
As we continue to reopen additional Disney Resort hotels to Guests, we are modifying the reopening date for Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort which will reopen next summer. This schedule adjustment also allows us to complete some refurbishment work at the Resort hotel, including enhancements to the Great Ceremonial House and Guest rooms. We expect work to begin in early October and look forward to sharing more about these changes in the future. The Villas and Bungalows at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort will remain open during this refurbishment.
We understand the amount of planning that goes into a Disney vacation and we are reaching out to you about your clients with upcoming reservations that are impacted by these changes, at least four weeks before their arrival. Our Cast Members will be able to assist with modifying their reservations to other Disney Resort hotels.
At this time, the following resorts are still scheduled for an upcoming reopening on the listed dates:
- Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort – October 14
- Disney’s Art of Animation Resort – November 1
Reopening dates for the following resorts have yet to be announced:
- Disney’s All-Stars Resorts
- Disney’s Port Orleans Resort – French Quarter and Riverside
- Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge (non-DVC)
