NBA Expected to resume season in Orlando; Voting to take place soon

After a long suspension due to the pandemic, it’s expected that the National Basketball Association’s Board of Governors will approve commissioner Adam Silver’s proposal to resume the season in Orlando, at Walt Disney World’s ESPN Wide World of Sports complex.

ESPN.com writer Ramona Shelburne reported that four plans for the structure of the season were discussed today, including one where the regular season would resume for teams that were within six games of a playoff spot when the season was suspended. NBA players have repeatedly expressed that they don’t want to immediately enter the playoffs, and want regular-season games to ease back into the stress of a season, according to Shelburne.

Earlier this week, Disney CEO Bob Chapek said that the company would be “glad” to host the league at Walt Disney World. The NBA recently confirmed that they were in “exploratory conversations” with Disney, which has reportedly begun reworking hotel spaces to house players for the duration of the resumed season.
